Competencies
Demonstrate a working knowledge of the history and teachings of the Christian church, including her government and worship.
- be familiar with the major persons, movements, and historical events in the history of the church. Special emphasis is to be given to the Apostolic, Patristic, Reformation, and Modern periods of the church
- articulate major issues that have arisen over time in the following areas: the variation of Christian doctrine; the internal organization and structure of the church and its offices; the expansion of Christianity and its encounter with other faiths; and the changing views of the relationship between church and society
- reflect theologically on issues currently facing the church, with special attention to their historical context
