ELDER & DEACON TRAINING

Leadership is innate… Leadership is caught, not taught… Leadership is a discipline… Leadership is learned… You have read all of the slogans. Some might be more true than others, and all probably have an element of wisdom. But one certainty has dogged humanity through the centuries: leaderless communities dissipate and die.

The quality, depth and heart of spiritual leadership in a congregation is the most important factor in determining the impact of that congregation. Yet many churches have no defined process for equipping their elders and deacons for service.  CLC steps into that gap and provides elder and deacon training that brings new leaders or existing leaders to a place of readiness to serve.

VISIONING RETREAT

Ministry in churches runs in yearly cycles: education and discipleship programs, the liturgical seasons, elder and deacon terms of service… Because of the repetition, ministry leadership often gets caught in maintenance: repeating last year’s schedule and activities again and again and again.

While there are indeed many things that should be repeated in life, it is also important for congregations and disciples to grow in Christ. Growing involves seeing new purposes, attempting new experiences, gaining new awareness, deepening new investments, and following Jesus as he is on the move in this community.

How can a pastor or leadership team help a congregation move from reactive maintenance ministry to proactive healthy growth in ministry? CLC has tried and effective tools for leading visioning retreats. We will provide leadership through a half-day, full-day, or other combination of time-blocks to help your congregation establish three to five meaningful, achievable next-step goals in ministry development for the next six to eighteen month period. Ministry Credentialing for Missional Leaders

We work with ordained and commissioned pastors to help them be credentialed for ministry service with one of our denominational partners.  For each pastor we develop a customized continuing education plan, crafted around the church’s requirements, to facilitate their transfer into their new ministry setting, and thereby releasing missional impact in churches.
